Earthquakes : Because Mother Earth Is Angry With Us

Mother gives good clothes, good food and good toys to the children. Good children handle these things and use them, while careless children destroy these things. This is what is happening with us that our mother earth gave us a good environment in the form of natural elements. But like careless children, we have caused so much damage to the environment that even the ozone layer has a hole in it. At the same time, the balance of tectonic plates began to deteriorate under the ground. The result is in front of us in the form of an increasing number of earthquakes and increasing intensity. At least now we should understand that our Mother Earth is angry with us. If their anger increases, then there will be no earth under our feet.

Earthquake came in Nepal while the ground was trembling till Delhi, NCR. The same thing happened now on the 8th and 9th of November 2022. There have been 28 earthquakes in Nepal this year. The highest intensity earthquake in this occurred on 8 November. Earlier on July 31, 2022, an earthquake of magnitude 6.0 struck Khotang district. Apart from this, tremors of 5.9 magnitudes were also felt on 19 October. There have been many major earthquakes in the country so far in the history of four hundred years, in which the biggest earthquake occurred in Bengal in 1737, in which about three lakh people died, but the first earthquake was in Mumbai in 1618, in which two thousand people died. But at that time there was neither Marcelli scale nor Richter scale, so its intensity is not known. So far in this century, the 2001 Bhuj earthquake in India also known as the Gujarat earthquake occurred at 08:46 am IST on 26 January 2001, the Republic Day of India. The 7.7 magnitude earthquake destroyed nearly 400,000 homes and damaged millions of structures. Before Bhuj, a devastating earthquake struck Latur, Maharashtra at 3.56 minutes on the morning of 30 September 1993. In this, 20,000 people died in a terrible tragedy. This earthquake was so strong that almost the entire Latur was devastated. More than 30 thousand people were injured by the tremors of the earthquake that lasted for 40 seconds.

Indonesia has the highest number of earthquakes in the world. This country is located in the Ring of Fire, due to which there are more earthquakes here. Apart from this, Java and Sumatra also come in this area. Actually, there are three main seismic belts on Earth: the Circum-Pacific Seismic Belt (Ring of Fire), the Alpide Belt, and the Oceanic Ridge Belt. Most major tectonic earthquakes occur in the Circum-Pacific Seismic Belt (USGS). There are actually 7 platelets inside the earth. These platelets are constantly moving. The place where the platelets collide is called the fault line. The collision causes his corners to turn. Not only this, due to excessive pressure, these platelets also start breaking. The energy generated due to the breakdown of platelets starts running out. Because of this disturbance, earthquake occurs.
Is the frequent earthquake indicating any danger? Experts also do not rule out this apprehension. Experts also say that the biggest threat to Delhi is from the belt of the Himalayan region. But, why are earthquakes frequently occurring in India? On the basis of scientific information, the whole of India is divided into four seismic zones. The most dangerous in this is Zone 5. According to scientists, an earthquake of 9 magnitudes on the Richter scale can occur in this region. Know which area of India is located in which zone. Zone-5 includes the entire Northeast India, parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and the Rann of Kutch in Gujarat, some parts of North Bihar and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Earthquakes are frequent in this area. Zone-4 includes the rest of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Sikkim, northern parts of Uttar Pradesh, Indus-Gangetic basin, Bihar and West Bengal, some parts of Gujarat and some parts of Maharashtra along the west coast and Rajasthan. Is. Zone-3 includes Kerala, Goa, Lakshadweep Islands, rest of Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and West Bengal, parts of Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Zone -2 is the least active area from the point of view of earthquake. It has been categorized as the least catastrophic danger zone. Zone-2 includes the rest of the country.
According to the seismologists of Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, the occurrence of earthquakes is being seen again and again due to the movement of the Indian plate towards the Eurasian plate. According to seismologists, the Indian plate is moving towards the Eurasian plate in the Himalayan region. Because of which earthquakes are being seen again and again in states like Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh. He told that this plate is slipping by five centimeters every year. In scientific research, it has come to the fore that due to the shifting of the Indian plate, India is moving towards Europe. At the same time, according to the seismologist of Wadia Institute, there have been very low intensity earthquakes in Uttarakhand. In the past decade, the state has witnessed 12 such earthquakes, whose magnitude is more than 4.5 on the Richter scale.
Among the man-made causes of earthquakes, it cannot be denied that the continuous manipulation of nature by us humans has also increased its intensity. In general, all tectonic plates are floating on liquid. On these plates is the thick layer of land on which we build skyscrapers and big dams. To build a dam means to collect a water-like substance that produces waves by removing the stable elements of soil, stones, rocks, etc. from there. Have we ever wondered what effect this would have on tectonic plates? Earthquakes in India occurred in 1967 in Koyna, Maharashtra and this seismic activity was attributed to the construction of the Koyna Dam. Oil and gas exploration was held to be responsible for the earthquakes in the tectonically calm region of Oklahoma (United States). Investigating the causes of the 2011 earthquake in Lorca, Spain, shocking facts were revealed, in which scientists had attributed excessive groundwater exploitation. Along with this, it was also said that if water from one part of the earth is hollowed out and the load of water is increased in the other part, then it increases the chances of earthquake. If we say in literary language, the way we are disturbing the balance of the natural elements, it is natural for Mother Earth to tremble with anger. There is still time to focus on the balance of natural elements, prevent soili erosion, maintain water bodies in their natural form, and otherwise be prepared for any major geographical crisis.
