We are celebrating the 'Amrit Mahotsav' of our country's independence, so we should remember that our national flag "Tiranga" is a symbol of unity in our diversity. It not only reflects the social, cultural and religious unity of our country but also represents the unity in diversity of our environment and climate. So when we proudly look at our national flag, remember our biodiversity and climate with pride.
Unity in Diversity of India is justified by the fact that people with different views on life, religion, social, economic and political system build a civilized nation through their belief and moral behavior. In the same way our biodiversity have unity in their diversity which made a precious and necessary climate.
Since independence, India has undergone many changes on the political, social and cultural front, but one thing that has remained intact till now is its "unity in diversity". We know that unity is the most influential factor in solving cultural and social problems. It instills a sense of mutual respect among the people irrespective of religious and cultural differences. India is famous for multi-cultural system so people live together in peace and harmony. Our country is a colorful country where people believe in different religions, follow different traditions, culture, their individual beliefs and lifestyles yet they celebrate each other's festivals together. Interestingly, this great diversity is also displayed in our society. There are people of different religions including Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis and Jews who follow diverse traditions and customs and celebrate their special festivals and occasions. Diwali, Holi, Christmas, Eid, Lohri etc. are celebrated with great enthusiasm. People can also be seen in different costumes of each state. There is a large multiplicity in the number of languages and dialects spoken by the people in different states. Similarly the arts, crafts, culture and folklore of each region of the country are diverse.
Like social and cultural diversity, our country is full of biodiversity. If seen, the geographical diversity of our country represents the whole earth. India is the seventh largest country in the world with an area of over 3 million square kilometers. The natural features of this country are diverse. In the north of India, where the Himalayas are located, in the rest of the country there are mountain ranges, rivers, lakes, forests and mangrove forests. It is followed by the Thar Desert to the sea and the vast Indian Ocean. Similarly, the vegetation found in different regions is equally diverse and different types of fauna are found in different habitats. Diversity is indeed the identity of India. According to the National Biodiversity Authority, India is one of the 17 most biodiversity countries in the world. 7-8 percent of the world's species live in India. So far, more than 46,000 plants and 81,000 species of animals have been recorded in the country by the Botanical Survey of India and the Zoological Survey of India.
Many times attempts were made by other countries to disturb the unity in diversity of our country. But we did not allow their intentions to succeed. We stood firm in the face of every difficulty. But sadly, we are ignoring our biodiversity. Only a few scientists cannot save species that are essential to our ecosystems from extinction. Many species of plants, animals and microorganisms have evolved in our ecosystems that have evolved in isolation by breaking through natural barriers. We humans have forced them to move to new places knowingly or unknowingly. We cut forests, dried up water sources, expanded our settlements and occupied forest lands, taking away their habitat from wild animals and birds. We pushed them to death. In these, there is no count of small insects and moths, which we have caused immense damage. We have forgotten that all are important links of an ecosystem whose disintegration will damage the ecosystem. To harm the ecosystem means to unbalance the environment and to unbalance the environment means to harm the climate. This is the basic thing that we have deeply understood and preserved our cultural and social diversity, but we are not taking serious citizen-initiative in the direction of saving the biodiversity of our country, which is desperately needed.
Therefore, now it is necessary that we have to understand and remember the meaning of the three colors of our national flag tricolor and the meaning of the circle in the center in the context of climate, only then we will be able to respect and protect the climate of our country like our national flag. We have to remember that the green color in the tricolor is of the whole nature that gives us a diverse life, the white color is the symbol of the purity that the unpolluted air, water, sound nature has given us. Saffron color is a symbol of the diverse nature in which from ferns to palm trees, from common fish Rohu to Gangetic dolphins. And which are being harmed by our mistakes. The blue circle in the middle of the flag is a symbol of each and every water source of our country. So when we proudly look at our national flag, remember our biodiversity and climate with pride.
